Some Explanation on the Less Obvious Names#
Promising Opensource projects (none of them are mine)#
-
Chawan browser - I use it everyday. It's come in at the right time, right place since it's a terminal browser that integrates old Web 1.0 layers (HTML, optionally-enabled JS and CSS) with new layers (Gemini protocol). The creator is active on the daily.
-
Blento - the ATProtocol-based answer to the now deprecated Bento. Still in the early phases but flo-bit's creative energy speaks for itself in the commits.
-
ATProto / Bluesky repos - these are not a great read (in terms of at-a-glance headers) at the moment, but I include them because there will come a time (within the next couple of years) where we're all going to be called to do a massive open-source rewrite of all the generated APIs and namespaces just to make them friendlier for all of us.
-
Orbiton - This doesn't actually work on my regular machine! but it's an great code editor if you're on Linux and into systems dev in any way.
Opinion Blogs#
-
Daniel Haax - Curl maintainer with some good insight on how infosec marketing is always at curl's door trying to sell something, as well as the recent pressure that AI-generated vulnerability reports have placed on such a widely used cli.
-
Null Program - Only posts about once a month but when he does, it's a good read. Just a really experienced systems developer.
-
J Archibald - same as above for reading about web dev.
